Servers and Workstations
In order to cover the information technology necessities of Berkemeyer Attoneys and Counselors, a computer network has been designed based on Windows 2003 Server with several workstations that operate on Windows XP.
The IT tools being used allow a centralized administration of the users and tech resources of the firm. The data is safeguarded by a well designed backup strategy as well as by strict security policies.
Instant Messages and E-Mail
The instant messaging system and electronic mail are of vital importance in the firm’s daily activities. For this reason, the firm works with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, which allows a centralized management of users’ mailboxes, the utilization of public folders, distribution lists, remote access to the mailboxes (OWA), among other advantages. Data

The updates are automated for download and replication to all servers and workstations through a centralized corporate application on a daily basis. The anti-virus solution protects the firm’s computer network against viruses, worms, trojans and other similar attacks.
Library
BERKEMEYER, Attorneys and Counselors, has an extensive library of hard copy text of laws, treatises and other materials. The firm also has had a full-scale computer library since 1995. The computer library contains 5400 volumes, including a collection of laws, documents, legal texts, treatises and magazines covering all subject areas of the law.
The library resources thus include a full collection of all the Paraguayan laws and all necessary commentary as well as many foreign laws, documents and articles.
Our libray resources readily support the diverse work of our staff. Our library contains worldwide legal information, which facilitates our attorneys professional development by enabling them to contribute current legal articles to both local and international publications and to participate at international Conferences.
We maintain an extensive computer library, which allows for any document search to be conducted by either topic or by term or word phrase. After the search is complete, the computer library provides access to the document together with a precise indication of the exact location of the hard copy.
Specifically, the computer library uses WINISIS 1.4 which is a workgroup accessible software.
