Berkemeyer Attorneys & Counselors assist and manage enforcement actions and request the most suitable action upon the client´s need, namely, extra judicial actions (cease & desist letters, investigations, etc) and judicial actions (border measures, criminal procedures, etc), solutions in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy.
The Enforcement Department is also in charge of assisting its clients on registering their trademarks at Customs, which is available in our country since January 2008 and it is in accordance with the TRIPS agreement ratified by Paraguay.
Also we believe that having well-informed, well-trained authorities and consumers is fundamental in the fight against counterfeiting, we plan on doing this through the following:
» Public Campaigns, useful to alert consumers and dealers about the nature of the products.
» Training Human Resources, through working sessions, seminars, roundtables in order to raise awareness of the extent of the counterfeiting problem, the economic and social impact of these activities and an overview of the legal system covering these issues.
